Mrs. Betty Jean "Sarge" Franklin, 81, of Woodstock, Georgia, formerly of Hazel Green, Alabama,  went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning.

Betty was a wonderful woman with a sweet and kind spirit, a smile on her face, very positive, and an inspiration to others. She enjoyed nature, especially going to the mountains, to the lake, to the beach, and enjoyed doing things for other people.  She was a faithful Christian and a member of the Woodstock Church of Christ, and she looked forward to attending the Diana Singing in Diana, Tennessee every year in June and September.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Red" Franklin;  By her parents, Loyd & Bertha Sullivan;  By her sisters, Karley "Kat" Moody & Vera "Sister" Thomas.

Surviving family members include her daughter, Wanda Franklin White;  Her sons, James Harold "L.B." (Tammy Bowling) Franklin, Ricky "Freck" Franklin, & Steve Franklin;  Her grandchildren:  Mark Franklin, Doug White, Tim White, Daniel Sledge, and Samuel Sledge;   Several great-grandchildren;  Two sisters, Doris Baeder & Sue Satterfield;

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Saturday at 1pm at the funeral home with Matt Amos officiating.   Burial will follow in New Sharon Cemetery.
