Billy Childers

Mr. Billy M. Childers, 89, of Hazel Green, passed away on Thursday at his daughter's home surrounded by his loving family.

He had retired from Thiokol after 35 years of employment and loved traveling with his wife who preceded him in death in 2008.  They especially enjoyed time on the river in their houseboat, and they treasured the time they spent surrounded by their family.

Mr. Childers was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Childers; His daughter, Wanda Gail Childers;  His siblings: Ida Mae Brown, Delbert Childers, Tula Stafford, & Lois Pitts, and by his parents, Ed & Ruth Childers.

Surviving family members include his two daughters and sons-in-law,  Sandra & Steve Loftus, and Carol & Steve Johnson;  7 Grandchildren;  15 Great-Grandchildren; 5 Great-Great Grandchildren; His sister, Essie McAllister; He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from Noon until 2pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 2pm with Pastor Benny Berry officiating.  Burial will be in Charity Cemetery.
