Billy Ray Wilburn

Billy Ray "Bill" Wilburn, 79, of Hazel Green, passed away on Sunday at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was proud to be a resident of the Licketskillet community where he spent almost his entire life.   He worked as a Master Welder and took great pride in his work for the space program and for the military.  He loved spending time with his family, joking with family and friends, fishing, country music, Nascar, and was a lifetime fan of Alabama football.  Roll Tide!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Burl & Beatrice Wilburn;  His son, John Kerry Wilburn;  His brothers: Burl "Junior" Wilburn, Edward Wilburn, and Jimmy Wilburn, and two infant siblings.

Surviving family members include his wife, Sandra "Sandy" Wilburn;  His sons, Steven Wilburn and Paul Hunt;  His daughters, Lori Bartlett and her husband, Thomas Wiley, and Marsha Hunt; His grandsons: Patrick Wiley and Ian Wiley;  His brothers, Houston Wilburn, Jesse "Jip" Wilburn, Earl Wilburn;  His sisters, Christine Flynt and Bettie Whaley;  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Friday at 11am at Hazel Green Funeral Home with Pastor Lon Ostrzycki officiating.   Burial will follow in Charity Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Ronnie Wilburn, Dustin Wilbourn, Jared Wilburn, Troy Wilburn and Blake Long
