Callie was called home to be with the lord on 5/22/2014. Callie was a loving mother and a faithful Christian. She was the kind of woman who was always willing to help someone else even if it meant doing without for herself. She took on the job of raising 3 boys with no help at an early age and with much sacrificing to herself, a lot of determination, hard work, and sometimes working two jobs at a time, she managed to raise us into three grown men. She had said several times that she was proud of us boys and how we turned out, I can assure you we are much more proud of her and her accomplishments than she could ever imagine. It took much determination, love, patience ,and an iron will to raise three boys in the 60's and 70's and still keep her sense of humor and provide some adult guidance in our lives.
After she raised us she took care of her mother and aunt as they became sick and needed her full time attention. She waited on them hand and foot, bathed them and took care of them until the day they passed. Her whole life has been in service of others and taking care of them from kids, to grandkids, to great grandkids, and her parents, and in all of the years I never once heard her complain or say she was sad to be so burdened with everyone else's needs. She was and will Always remain a remarkable woman who is deeply loved by her family and kids, and the lord himself as she is a true example of a Christian woman.
She was a member of the West Huntsville Baptist Church for many years.
She is survived by her three sons: Wayne (Joann) Terrell, Johnny (Jeannie) Peterson, & Lonnie (Jennie) Peterson; Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren;
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 to 3pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3pm, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Scott Gossett officiating. Burial will be in New Sharon Cemetery.
