Darryl Bruce Warden, 58, of Fayetteville, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 15th. He was born and raised in the Walnut Grove community of Madison County, Alabama.
Bruce was a faithful Christian of nearly fifty years who devoted his life to helping others. His selfless testimony and warm smile left a lasting impact on all those he encountered. He was an esteemed member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Flintville, Tennessee. Bruce was a highway foreman for many years at Ashburn and Gray/ APAC contractors in Huntsville, Alabama. He was currently employed as a supervisor for Solid Waste Disposal Authority in Huntsville. Bruce had an inspirational work ethic that encouraged others to take pride in their work no matter how small the task. Whether he was tending a garden, repairing a piece of equipment, or searching for arrowheads, Bruce enjoyed being outdoors among nature. Always humbling himself before God in everything he did, Bruce had an unconditional love for his family and friends that will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Dalton & Muriel Campbell Warden; his brothers-in-law, Jake Douglas and David Warren; his niece, Catherine Rogers; his grandparents, Rev. Robert & Eunice Biles Warden and Terry & Jennie Hunter Campbell. He was also preceded in death by his wife's step-father, John J. Comstock, and by her grandparents, Louis & Mildred Ricketts, all of whom were very special to him.
Surviving family members include his beloved wife of 31 years, Carla Ricketts Warden; his son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas & Mackenzie Warden; his five older sisters, Dianne Douglas, Janie (Buddy) Simmons, Connie Mason, Ramona (Ronald) Rogers, and Donna Warren; his mother-in-law, Pamela Comstock; his father-in-law, Freddie Ricketts. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, June 18th, from 4 until 8 pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 19th, at 1pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Milton Martin and Bro. Jeremy Ogle officiating. A committal service will follow in Lincoln Cemetery with Bro. Lucas Stone and Bro. Ed Johnson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building fund.
