Dean (Hillis) Perry

Dean Perry of New Market peacefully went to be with the Lord on Wednesday while surrounded by her loving family.  She was 78.   Dean was born and lived her entire life in New Market.   She was a Christian and a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.

She had retired from New Market School where she fed generations of children having worked for 32 years in the school cafeteria.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Johnny Dean Perry;  her parents, Walter and Opal Hillis.

Surviving family members include her husband of almost 61 years, Johnny Perry;  her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie & Craig Irwin;  her daughter and son-in-law, Stacy & Tim Petty;  her son and daughter-in-law, Shawn & Sara Perry; her four grandchildren:  Dylan Irwin, Logan (Elijah) Tripp, Nathan (Abby) Irwin,  Ryan Perry;  her two great-grandchildren: Blakely Irwin and Miles Tripp.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 4PM until 8PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Saturday at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Billy Langford officiating.  Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in New Market.

Dean will be remembered for her sweet, kind spirit, for being a friend to everyone she met, and for being a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
