Donald F. Satterfield
May 23, 1935 — January 9, 2020
Donald F. Satterfield, 84, of New Market, went to be with the Lord on January 9th, 2020.
He was a life long resident of the New Market/Walnut Grove community. Don retired from the City of Huntsville where he worked for the Huntsville Fire Department and the Traffic Engineering Department. He was a hard worker that was known to tell a good joke. Don loved his family, friends and his dog, Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents Grady & Jeanette, his sister Doris and his daughters, Donna Varchetta and Rebecca Clark.
Surviving family members include his loving wife, Peggy Satterfield, daughter, Kathy (& Jamie) Axelson, son, Greg (& Joannie) Satterfield, son-in-law, George Varchetta, grandchildren, Shane (& Nicole) Scott, Cindy Scott-Phillips, Josh (& Stacy) Clark, Michael Varchetta, Hayley Clark, and Allen Satterfield as well as a host of great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 13th from 12 pm until 1:30 pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 pm Monday at the funeral home with Dr. Harold Fanning officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in New Market.
The family extends special gratitude to caretakers Sharon Sharp and Joyce Baugh.
