Doris (Green) Whiteley

Mrs. Doris Whiteley, 88, of New Market, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday.

She was a Christian and had been a faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church in New Market for more than 55 years.  She served in the church in various ministries but most enjoyed leading the "Good Neighbors" senior adult ministry.  She had retired from the W.T. Grant Company in Huntsville and was a poll worker for approximately 20 years at the District One Shed voting precinct.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Morgan & Ola Green;  By her sister, Marie Fromhold, and by her infant sister, Hildner Lucile Green and by her grandson, Johnny Hudson.

Surviving family members include her husband of 61+ years, Albert W. Whiteley; Her daughter, Joeena McGriff and her husband, Lamar, and by her son, Steve Hudson and his wife, Fay;  Her grandchildren, Leah Colby, Beth Squire, Glen Alan McGriff, and Kerri Smith; 10 Great-Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Sunday at 3pm at the funeral home with Rev. Billy Langford officiating.  Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery in Lincoln County, Tennessee.
