Ella Hunter Underwood

Ella Underwood, 78, of New Market, passed away on Sunday at a local hospital.

Mrs. Underwood, a beloved wife and mother, was born in New Madrid, Missouri in 1937.   She attended the St. Joseph School of Nursing in Memphis, Tennessee, and she spent her entire career as a nurse serving others.  She was a kind and generous person.

Survivors include her husband, James K. "Jim" Underwood;  Her daughter:  Sandra Underwood;   Her sons: Steve (Kris) Underwood of Franklin, TN, George Underwood of Huntsville, Andy (Darian) Underwood of Woodstock, Ga, and Joe (Angela) Underwood of Canton, Ga; 12 grandchildren. Her brother: Bill Boone of Dexter, Mo;  Her sister:  Helen Schott of Cape Girardeau, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her son, John Underwood, and by her granddaughter, Ashley Scott.

The family will receive friends on Thursday beginning at 2pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 3pm at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Patterson officiating.  Burial will then be in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
