Evelyn "Josie" Hunter Layne
October 9, 1923 — November 21, 2014
Evelyn "Josie" Hunter Layne, 91, of Hazel Green, passed away on Friday evening.
She was a life-long resident of Madison County, where she helped the family with farming from an early age. She retired from Scovill in Fayetteville, TN, and then was a salesperson for Curry Portable Buildings in Huntsville.
She was preceded in death by: Her husband, J.D. Layne; Daughter, Pam Layne; Parents, Elvie and Bertha Hunter; Brothers, Cecil, Homer, Billy, and Albert Hunter; and longtime friend, Cecil Curry.
Survivors include: Her son, Lynn (June) Layne; Her daughter, Pat Campbell; Her grandchildren, Corey Layne, Will (Misty) Campbell, Heather (Davy) Knight, Misty (Derrick) Glover, and Brent Layne; Her great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hollee Campbell, Ashton and Addison Knight, and Allison Glover.
She is also survived by her brothers: Collins "Tooter" Hunter and Willard Hunter; Her sisters: Pauline Campbell, Gwen Potter, and Linda Sibley, along with a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5 until 8 pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be Monday at 11am at the Stateline Cemetery in Hazel Green with the Rev. Benny Berry and the Rev. Eddie Lones officiating.
