Evelyn (Bates) Rozell

Mrs. Evelyn Bates Rozell, 88, of Hazel Green, passed away on Thursday.

She was a member of Briar Fork Primitive Baptist Church and retired from Huntsville City Schools where she worked mostly at Davis Hills Middle School in the lunchroom.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister and cared deeply about her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David "Tack" Rozell, her brother, Roy Bates, and by her parents, S.P. and Lila Bates.

Surviving family members include her son, Dickey Rozell; Her granddaughter, Crystal and Tim;  Her grandson, Chris and Lisa Rozell;  Her great-granddaughter, Kaylah Heatherington;  Six brothers, Paul Bates, Hollis Bates, Thomas Bates, Jeff Bates, Jimmie Bates and David Bates, Five sisters, Alice Smith, Dora Warren, Jenell Tucker, Gertrude Quick and Claudia Moran. She is also survived by a special niece, Ernestine Dixon.

The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be on Sunday at 2pm at the funeral home with Rev. Hall and Rev. Michael Wimberly officiating.  Burial will follow in Briar Fork Cemetery.
