Faye (Smith) Bankston

Faye Bankston of Ardmore, Alabama, originally of the Walnut Grove community, passed away on Saturday.  She was 82.  Faye will be remembered for her great sense of humor and for being the life of any gathering.   She loved animals, was gifted at growing flowers, and dearly loved all her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodford "Sonny" Royster;  her children, Cynthia Royster, Ted Hunt, and Darlene Hunt; her father, Joe Ed Smith; her mother, Clara Mills Smith; her paternal grandmother, Eliza Ann Smith.  Her brothers: Ray smith, Jerry Smith, Arthur Smith and Ronnie Smith; her sister, Lola Elwanda Maples; three brothers-in-law: Glenn Holder, Larry "Buddy" Hobbs, and Wayne Swinford.

Faye is survived by her husband, Jerry Bankston;  her children:  Trenna Tribble (Steven), Jerome Royster (Lana), Tracey Royster (Cindi), and Scottie Bankston;  Her sisters, Lela Ann Holder, Carolyn Diane Swinford, Amanda Smith Hobbs. One brother, Phillip Smith; her grandchildren: Brynn (Jimmy) Forsyth, Josh (Felicia) Sledge, Cassie (Brian) Smith, Brittney (Todd) Lowder, Jessica (Zach) Maples, Amberley (Jeff) Haggermaker,  Traci Kay (Bradley) Rippey, Alanna (Jordan) Haggermaker, and Mandi (Jessie) Perroni;  16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a slew of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6pm until 9pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Friday at 2pm at the funeral home with Bishop Harold St.Clair officiating.  Burial will follow the service and will be in Concord Cemetery.
