Frank J. Smith

Frank Smith, 70, of Hazel Green, Alabama, passed away at home on May 31, 2023 after a short battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Susan, and stepfather William F. Peyton. He is survived by his mother, Juanita Peyton, his loving wife, Kathy, his son Will (Angela), stepson Shane Miller (Amber), granddaughter (Cabella), and his adoring Shih Tzu, Skyy.

Frank was retired from Huntsville Utilities where he proudly served as a lineman.

Frank had many interests that he was passionate about. His hobbies included playing in his bowling league, watching the Braves, football, and golf. He loved to hunt as well as fish and was also an avid collector of a vast collection that ranged from antiques, tools, flashlights, cigarettes lighters and Camel racing memorabilia. He was always happy to engage others in conversations about his passions.

One of his proudest accomplishments was winning 5th place in the 2012 WSOP No-Limit Hold’em Six Handed event at Harrah’s Tunica, MS.

Frank will always be remembered for his kindness, storytelling, love of life, and most of all, his love of his family. He touched everyone through his warm smile, compassionate nature, and his storytelling. He left a mark on the hearts of all who were lucky enough to have met him. He will be deeply missed and will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Hazel Green Funeral Home from 4:00 - 6:00 PM.
