Gary E. Jones

Mr. Gary E. Jones, 68, of Hazel Green, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning at his home.

Mr. Jones was a Christian and of the baptist faith.   He worked his entire career as a self-employed mechanic and owned and operated Beaver Creek Speedway in Meridianville until recently, and also worked for Fowler Auction for a number of years.  Gary enjoyed fishing, racing, and time with his grandkids.   He enjoyed a happy life with his family and friends and was well-known in the community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Agnes Jones;  His sister, Marine Tucker, and three brothers, Billy Joe Jones, Edward Jones, and Clemmie Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Katie Sue Mitchell Jones; Three children, Bryan Eugene Jones ,  Stephanie Jones Key and her husband, Pete, and Rodney Eugene Jones and his wife, Jennifer.  Five grandchildren: Jessie Hicks, Casey Hicks, Samantha Hicks, Sarah Jones, and Rose Jones.  One special grandchild, Dallas.  Two sisters, Diane Peoples and Bonnie Newman.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Saturday at 2pm at the funeral home with Bro. Tracy Adams, Bro. Charles Marable, and Bro. Billy Taylor officiating.   Burial willl follow in Golightly Cemetery.
