Lawrence Gerald Jennings, age 72, went home to be with his Savior on Monday, December 6, 2021.

Gerald was born on Sept. 16, 1949 in Huntsville.  He was a native of Harvest and had lived in New Market for 49 years.  He graduated from Sparkman High School in 1968 and was a Huntsville Firefighter for 42 years.  He retired in 2012 as a Driver at Station 1.  He truly loved being a fireman and the wonderful people he had the privilege to work with.  He was faithful servant and deacon at Flint River Baptist Church, where he served for 48 years in various ministries.  He was an avid sports fan, especially UAH basketball.  He loved playing sports and cherished watching his children and grandchildren play.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Glenn Wilson Jennings and Margaret Rousseau Jennings, brother Ronald Glenn Jennings, and in-laws Raymond and Allene Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy Brown Jennings; His daughters Melanie Barkley (Scott), Lynn Saint (Jason); His grandchildren Dalton (Chelsea) and Bryant, Olivia and Hudson; His brother Charles Dwight Jennings (Jan) and sisters Jane Cates (Bob) and Elaine Brooks; Special Friends, Ronnie and Janis Swaim. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be held at Flint River Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 7 from 5pm until 8pm.  His celebration of life will be Wednesday, December 8 at 1pm at Flint River Baptist Church.  Burial will take place following the service at the Flint River Cemetery on Moore's Mill Road.
