Mr. Glynn Andrews, 80, of Hazel Green, passed away on Wednesday at his home. He was a wonderful husband to his wife, father to his children, and grandfather to his grandchildren.
Mr. Andrews played music his entire life, was the Alabama State Champion Fiddler for 3 years in his late teens, and was a professional musician for 20+ years playing the fiddle and the steel guitar with some country music greats such as Little Jimmy Dickens, Donna Fargo, Billy Walker, & Roy Drusky. He played the Grand Ole Opry on several occasions during his career. He was known for his boisterous laugh and his great sense of humor, his happiness, and his love for music.
In the late 70s, Glynn accepted Christ as his Savior and became passionate about his faith and sharing it with others. He was very involved in leading children's church for a number of years and in mentoring kids through his music.
Mr. Andrews was preceded in death by his father, Gurnie Otis Andrews, by his mother, Johnnie Mae Conway, by his brother, Marvin E. Andrews, and by his daughter, Teresa Lynn Andrews.
Glynn is survived by his wife of 51 years, Frieda Andrews; His daughters and sons-in-law, Sabrina & Jack Dennis and Cher & Travis Mooney; His brother, Jack Andrews; His sisters, Patricia Cobb & Marie Jones; His grandchildren: Corey Hardisty, Dalton Gaither, Logan Mooney, Lexi Mooney, and Knox Mooney; His great-granddaughter, Luna Marie Hardisty.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 until 2pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2pm at the funeral home with Rev. Ray Stonecypher officiating. Burial will follow in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
