Gordon Paul Hudson, 94, of Madison County passed away on Sunday at Regency Retirement Village in Huntsville.
Gordon had been a lifelong residence of rural northeast Madison County, AL since his birth on August 19, 1928 to Oscar W. Hudson and Lela Mae Whitfield Hudson. He served his country in service to the U.S. Army in Korea in the 1950s, graduated New Market High School, and farmed for many years until other occupations of “public service” to include Foremost/Farmbest ice cream-and milk-delivery routes in north Huntsville and sheet metal machinist at Barber Coleman until his retirement in 1990.
He and Imogene D. Hudson were married for 72+ years and raised three sons in the Walnut Grove community. He was a Christian and longtime member of Union Grove Baptist Church in New Market, AL.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings: James W. Hudson, Dorothy Marie Miles, and Melvin Vester Hudson and his eldest son, Michael D. Hudson.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene Davis Hudson, his sons Mark D. Hudson (Janet) of Hazel Green, Tracy D. Hudson (Victoria Clendenon) of Ryland, and daughter-in-law Jeannie Davis Hudson of Fayetteville, TN. Others left to cherish his memories are two sisters: Daisy Barnett of Ardmore, TN and Violet Steakley of Huntsville, AL, three grandchildren: Timothy Hudson (Danielle) of Shelbyville, TN, Heather Campbell (Garrett) of Scottsboro, AL and Anna Benavides (Michael) of Huntsville, AL and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 3pm at Taylor Cemetery in New Market with Pastor Billy Langford officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial donations to be made to Union Grove Baptist Church, 1498 Butler Road, New Market, AL 35761.
