Hazel Bates FarmerFeb. 24, 1915 ~ Oct 29, 2010Mrs. Hazel Bates Farmer peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday at her home in New Market. At 95 she was best known for her youthfulness, vitality, care for others and her love and adoration for her immediate family. She was employed with the Madison County School System for 33 years as the Lunchroom Manager at Hazel Green School. She was a Madison County native and a lifelong member of Union Grove Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by two wonderful husbands: James Walker Bates of 51 years and Roy Farmer of 27 years; and a beautiful great-grandson, Kyle Michael Brady. She was also preceded in death by her parents and by six brothers and sisters.She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Bates Honea and son-in-law, Carl. Two grandchildren, Chris Honea and wife, Janie and by Marla Honea Brady and husband, Mike, Jr. She also had three great-grandchildren, whom she adored: Rilea Honea, Dallas Honea, and Carly Brady. She is also survived by one sister, Margaret Lasater and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2pm at Union Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Lee Singley and Rev. Billy Britton officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.The family would like to express special thanks to Marilyn Hunter Rutledge for the love and care she provided over the last six week.Hazel Green Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
