Helen Gertrude Bertus DavisJune 4, 1914 ~ May 6, 2010Mrs. Helen Gertrude Bertus Davis, 95, of Hazel Green, Alabama, died Thursday. Mrs. Davis was born June 4, 1914 on B Street (now Bradley Street) in Merrimack Mill Village where she lived the first 65 years of her life. She was a lifelong member of the Huntsville Park Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Jerry E. Davis and wife Glenda of Huntsville, Louis E. Davis and wife Peggy, and LaRue Wallace and husband Jerome all of Hazel Green; eight grandchildren and 13 great grand-children. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil M. Davis; her parents, George L. Bertus and Laura Alice Russell Bertus; her sister, Lilly Crowe; her brothers, Roland Bertus and Roscoe Bertus, Sr. Visitation is Saturday 11 am to 1 pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1 pm at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
