Helen Flynt ManleyMarch 31, 1923 ~ September 19. 2009Mrs. Helen Flynt Manley, 86, of Hazel Green, died Saturday at a local hospital. She was a devoted home-maker who loved to cook and spend time at the lake with her family. She attended the Hazel Green Church of God of Prophecy, enjoyed gospel singings, and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by two husbands: Nolan Gwin Layne and Woodrow Manley; Her parents: Ernest and Bessie Flynt.; her siblings: Louise Hunter, Leonard Flynt, and Walter Flynt. She is survived by her sons: James E. Layne and wife, Pat; Nolan G. Layne Jr. and wife Pam; Her step-children: Weldon Manley and wife, Janice; Karon Smith and husband, Kent. Her sisters: Edith Wilson, Florence Tanner, and Peggy Boatwright; Her Brothers: Carl Flynt and A.C. Flynt. 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 until 8pm at the Hazel Green Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 1pm at the funeral home with Bishop Harold St. Clair officiating. Burial will follow in Green Valley Cemetery in Big Cove.
