James Al DavisJanuary 3, 1919 ~ January 26, 2010James Al Davis, 91, of New Market, passed away Tuesday evening at his home. Mr. Davis was a barber from the age of 19 to the age of 72. He ran Al's Barber Shop in the Walnut Grove Community for many years. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Lou Davis. His parents, George and Adie Towry Davis. Two sisters, Lucy Locker and Flora Koonce of Lincoln County, TN. And his brother, Terry Davis.He is survived by three sons, James Wayne Davis and his wife, Jo-Ann and Weldon Davis and his wife, Pat - all of New Market. Ray Davis and his wife Judy of Hazel Green. One brother, Morgan Davis and his wife Julia of Hazel Green. Nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 5 until 9pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday at 1pm at the funeral home chapel with Bro. Bill Phillips, Rev. Dalton Warden, and Rev. Benny Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.
