James Edward Sorden

James Edward Sorden, 63, of Joppa, Alabama, passed away on December 8, 2024. He was born on February 4, 1961, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, to Edward and Margaret (Wilcox) Sorden.

James was a man who truly loved life and always carried a smile on his face. Known for his generosity, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. A proud Marine, James had deep respect for his fellow servicemen and women, often thanking them for their service whenever he encountered them.

Those who knew James will never forget him. He had a profound love for animals and cared for all kinds daily where he lived. He also enjoyed building bonfires, listening to music, and spending time with loved ones. His warm personality and kind spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

James was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret R. Sorden; father, Edward H. Sorden Jr.; and brother, David Harold Sorden.

He is survived by his stepmother, Caroline Sorden; his two sons, David (Danielle) Boggs and Steven (Destany) Sorden; his siblings, Patty Sorden Beasley, Linda (Jim) Sorden Ellis, Dennis Sorden, William Sorden, and John (Billie Sue) Sorden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Hazel Green Funeral Home on Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Funeral services will follow visitation at 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
