Mr. James Ronald "Pete" Woodard, 84, of Hazel Green, passed away on Sunday morning.

He retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years  of honorable service and had served in Korea and Vietnam. He was a proud Air Force retiree.  He then worked for 20 years in civil service at Redstone Arsenal before retiring a second time. He received several medals including two distinguished flying crosses.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Wilma Virginia Evans Woodard, by his parents, John Howard Woodard and Guyselle Greene, and by his brother, John Larry Woodard.

Surviving family members include seven sons and daughters-in-laws, Lee and Sheryl Woodard of Toney, Ty and John Deweese Woodard of Highland Rim, Tennessee, Craig and Betty Woodard, Gene and Debbie Woodard, Steve and Kim Woodard, John and Sherry Woodard, Ronny and Carla Woodard all of Hazel Green; 19 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.  He is also survived by two brothers, Ray Greene and Richard Martin "Ricky" Greene.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 until 9pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Friday at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. Terry Sanders officiating.  Burial with full military honors will follow in Charity Cemetery.
