Janie Davis

Bette Jane “Janie” Davis, 74, of Hazel Green, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday evening at a local hospital.

Mrs. Davis was born January 20, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Hollis Ford Bowman and Ernestine Jeanette Burns Bowman.  After graduating from Tulane University with a degree in nursing, she spent her career at the Orlando Regional Medical Center where she was the Director of Nursing.  She later worked in medical sales for VHA Hospitals of Alabama.

Janie was a member of First Baptist Church of Hazel Green and had been a member of Flint River Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years: Jimmy Davis;  By her son, Ritchie Murphy;  She is also survived by 3 step-children, 7 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5 until 8pm at the Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Sunday a 2pm at the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.

The family would like to express special thanks to the people of the First Baptist Church of Hazel Green and the people of the Flint River Baptist Church for their love, kindness, and for accepting Janie as one of their own.
