Jean Britton Thomason, 80, of Hazel Green, passed away on Monday.
Jean was known for her kind, sweet spirit, always encouraging others, and she was a long-time member of the Hazel Green/Walnut Grove community. She was a member of Hayes Chapel Baptist Church.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and she enjoyed going out to eat with her late husband, Burt Thomason. She worked for a number of years at Serbin and Jonathan Logan before becoming the bookkeeper at Thomason Auto Parts, the family business, in Owens Cross Roads. She was also involved in operating Thomason Hereford Farm.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Lavoyd Britton, by her second husband, Burt Thomason, by her son, Phillip Britton, by her father, Wilburn Norman, her mother Estelle Simmons, and by her step-father, Roy Simmons. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Paul Norman, Tommy Norman, Jerry Simmons, Bonnie Williamson, Nancy Simmons, Stanley Simmons, Roger Simmons, and Johnny Simmons, and by two grandchildren, Heath and Haley Britton.
Surviving family members include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara & Barry Blankenship; Her son and daughter-in-law, Chris & Angela Thomason; Her grandchildren: Traci Britton Jones, Amy Britton Hunter, Nathan Thomason, Jessica Thomason, Dakota Thomason, Aleeya Thomason, Blake Britton, Justin Blankenship, and Rachel Campbell; Her great-grandchildren: Emily DeArmond, Zachary Hunter, Kursten Cowart, Houston Jones, Christopher Cowart, Emma Jones, Erin Hunter, Juliana Blankenship, Jaxon Blankenship, Brendan Campbell, and Ryleigh Campbell; Her great-great granddaughter, Raylee Torgenson; She is also survived by her three sisters, Joanne Harbin, Wanda Tipton, and Debbie Szalwinski and by her brother, Stevie Simmons.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday at Noon at the funeral home with Rev. Benny Berry and Rev. Tim Britton officiating. Burial will follow in Taylor Cemetery.
