Jeanette Shelton

Mrs. Jeanette Shelton, 84, of Hazel Green, Alabama, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Friday morning while surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Jeanette was a Christian who loved the Lord and was a faithful, long-time member of Murphy Hill Baptist Church.  She adored children and taught them for more than 50 years at the church including in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and GA's.  She also loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren.  She fostered and mentored several children over the years. She was known for her vibrant personality and quick wit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hank Shelton;  By her son, Charles Shelton;  By her parents, Lester & Josephine Hale.

Surviving family members include her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah & Mark Holaway;  Her son and daughter-in-law, Darrell & Patsy Shelton;  Her grandchildren:  Adam Holaway, Rachel Holaway, Mike Russell;  Her daughter-in-law, Carla Merrill; Her sister, Peggy Harrison;  Her brothers, Thomas Hale and William "Bill" Hale.

The family will receive friends on Sunday at 2pm at Murphy Hill Baptist Church.  A Celebration of Life service will follow at 3pm at the church with Pastor Mike McFarlen officiating and burial will be in Murphy Hill Cemetery.
