Mrs. Jeanie Riddle Shockley, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, December 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on December 8, 1945, in Huntsville, Alabama, Jeanie was the daughter of the late Carl and Jean Baites Riddle. She graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1964 and married Powell Montgomery Shockley on April 10, 1966.  For forty-nine years, Jeanie dedicated herself to her career as a Dental Hygienist.

Jeanie had many interests, whether it was nurturing her flower gardens, sewing, or enjoying bowling. Her greatest joy came from the moments she spent with her children and grandchildren.

She leaves behind her devoted husband of fifty-eight years, Powell Montgomery Shockley; her two daughters, Monte Jean Shockley Britton (Jason) from Hazel Green, Alabama, and Sarah Elizabeth Shockley Rogers (Danny) from Jasper, Indiana; and her four cherished grandchildren: Brett Britton Bentley (Caden), Russel Britton (Katie), Carlee Rogers, and Tate Rogers. Jeanie will also be remembered by her dear friends, Gail Carter and Josie Hayes, and by the many neighbors who enriched her life with their friendship and support.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hazel Green Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment in Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville.
