Jewel Mason Padgett

Mason Padgett, 79, of Gurley, passed away on Saturday.

She was a Christian and was a member of Gurley Free Holiness Church, which she dearly loved, for more than 40 years.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

Jewel was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Dewey Padgett;  Her two sons, Dennis Lee Padgett and Gerald Byrant Padgett;  Her daughter, Carol Ann Padgett Tapscott. Her parents, Luther & Lillie Mason;  Her sisters, Levinia Pogue, Bea Pogue, Edna Conerly, Dorothy Pogue, and Clara Mae Mason;  Her brother, William Mason.

Surviving family members include her daughters:  Cindy Maggart and Ava Wied;  Her grandchildren: Jermie Maggart, Charlie Maggart, Mindie Wied, Stephanie Wied,  Travis Wied;  7 Great-grandchildren:  Lillian Berryhill, Katlyn Berryhill, and Graclyn Berryhill, Blake Maggart, Karlee Maggart, Marshall Dye, Matthew Dye.  Her sisters, Shirley Pogue, Catherine Padgett, and Mattie Vann;  Her brother, Michael Mason.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Holiness Church.  Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11am at the church with Bro. Joe Ventress and Bro. Guindal Knight officiating.  Burial will follow and will be in Miller Cemetery.
