Jimmie Wayne Peek

Jimmie “J.W.” Wayne Peek, age 65, of Hazel Green passed away at his residence Friday, August 14th, surrounded by his family. He was born in Nashville, TN August 4th, 1950, the son of the late Jim Henry and Lorena Peek.

He was a 1969 graduate of Ardmore High School in Ardmore, AL, he then went on to serve a two year term in the United States Army. He was a retiree from USBI of Huntsville, AL after 15 years of service.

Jim had a very strong-willed personality and was not afraid to speak his mind. He was an avid fisherman who shared his passion about nature and loved spending time with his friends and family outdoors. His favorite pastime quite often would be sharing “fish stories” with anyone that would cross his path.

Jim is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rita Peek; his daughter and son-in-law Joanie and Robin Barnett, and son and daughter-in-law Jimmie and Kara, with granddaughter Savanna Rose Peek; niece Shauna Zimmerman of Ohio; as well as his beloved dog Sophie.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Hazel Green Funeral home on Wednesday August, 19th at 6 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 7 p.m. officiated by Chaplain Phil Kimbrough.
