Jimmy Dock Rigsby

Jimmy Dock Rigsby, age 77 passed away on Friday at his home in Hazel Green. He was born June 7, 1946 in Madison County to the late Roy and Annie Mae Rigsby and was a life-long resident of the area.

He worked at many jobs in his career including clock repair and was the last owner of local landmark Zesto’s at Five Points. Without question, his proudest role was school bus driver for Hazel Green Elementary School. He genuinely loved seeing the kids, helping them have a fun start to their school day and making sure they got home every day. He also served 13 years in the Alabama National Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda, his brother Johnny, and grandson Kevin. He is survived by his sons, Thom (Vickie) Rigsby of Brownsboro, Jimmy Dock (Rona) Rigsby, Jr of Fayetteville, and Brian (Lori) Macilag of Brownsboro; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings Louise Pearman, Earl Rigsby, Betty Weaver, Doris Cash, Faye Shook, Peggy (Jimmy) Freeman, and Nancy Gaye; He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday at 3pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home with  Pastor Benny Berry officiating.  The family will begin receiving friends at 1:30pm.

The family is very grateful and wants to recognize Affinity Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided with special thanks to Jerri, Cara, and Porsha.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation at www.russelhill.org .
