James "Jimmy" Swaim, 73, of Hazel Green, passed away on Saturday while surrounded by his loving family.  He was a Christian and attended First Baptist Church of Hazel Green.

Jimmy was a 1965 graduate of Hazel Green High School.  He served in the Army National Guard for six years and was a professional trucker.  He raced at Huntsville Speedway in the late 60s and early 70s, was an Auburn football fan,  and was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry & Pocahontas Swaim;  His brother, Harry Lee Swaim;  His brother, Jackie C. Swaim; a daughter-in-law, Cissy Swaim.

Surviving family members include:  his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin & Ashley Swaim;  His daughter and son-in-law, Cindy & Billy Gentle;  His grandchildren:  Kristen (Seth) Jones, Will Gentle, Kaitlin Swaim, Lakin Swaim, and Brynn Swaim;  His brother, Dave Swaim; His friend and the mother of his children, Nancy Swaim;  His companion and caregiver, Kathy Gentle.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5 until 8pm at First Baptist Hazel Green at 225 Hunt Drive; A graveside funeral service will be Tuesday at 2pm at Taylor Cemetery on Butler Road in New Market with Pastor Brad Williams and Rev. Billy McElyea officiating.

Casketbearers will be Will Gentle, Lakin Swaim, Seth Jones, Rahn Gentle, Leo Rodriguez, and Nathan McGee
