Jo Ann F. Davis, 73, passed on to the Lord on Monday. She was a long time resident of New Market. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in Falmouth on Cape Cod. She was the daughter of George and Dorothy Midgley and had one sister, Dot. She lived many places as an Air Force wife.
She was the mother of four daughters: Lou-Ann Lanier, Linda Brasher, Laura Ralph, and Lisa Henderson. Four grandchildren: Jessica Brasher, David, Alex, and Scot Lanier, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a niece, Susan Carrier, who was like a daughter to her.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, James Wayne Davis of New Market.
Her retirement years were spent in the garden where she had many flower beds. She was especially proud of her large assortment of lilies. She collected antiques and loved to go to yard sales. She did work for her church, Hazel Green United Methodist, and she had many friends. She traveled extensively, touring Europe and the U.S. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. Family was very important to her and she loved them all.
A memorial service will be at Hazel Green United Methodist Church on Thursday at 11am followed by burial in Taylor Cemetery in New Market. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hazel Green United Methodist Church.
