Joan (Monks) Shockley

Joan "Joanne" Monks Shockley, 93, of Hazel Green, passed away on Monday.  She was a Christian and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Hazel Green.  She had an outgoing personality and was always the life of the party - making people laugh wherever she went. She loved yard sales and playing rook.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, J.M. Shockley;  By her son, Larry Wayne Shockley;  Her siblings:  Clintelle Spray, Estelle Lacy, and Gerald Monks.

Surviving family members include her children:  Belinda Bailey (Butch) White, Steve (Sheila) Shockley, and Connie (Allen) Atchley; Her grandchildren:  Mark Bailey, Scott Bailey, Haley Stasica, Savannah Poole, and Shawna Atchley; 11 Great-grandchildren, and her sister-in-law, Kaye Monks Bonner.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10am until 12pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at Noon at the funeral home.   Burial will then be in Stateline Cemetery.
