John J. Bruen

Mr. John J. Bruen, 76, of Arab, formerly of Park Forest, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday at his home.

John was born on the south side of Chicago near Sox Park and graduated from Bloom Trail High School.  He began driving a tractor trailer when he was 18 years old and continued to drive for his entire 42 year career.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed shopping for a bargain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Katherine Bruen;  His brother, Mike Bruen;  His sister, Pat Swisher.

Surviving family members include his wife of almost 57 years, Betty Bruen;  His children: Brenda Fisher, Dale Bruen, and William Bruen;  His grandchildren: Felicia Peralez, Ashley Creviston, Tiffany Doyle, Brady Bruen, Jacob Bruen, and Luke Bruen;  His daughters-in-law, Barbara Bruen and Bonnie Bruen;  His son-in-law, Steven Fisher;  His great-grandchildren: R.J. Peralez and Dominic Creviston.  His siblings:  Jim Bruen, Joe Bruen, Francis Bruen, Helen Bruen, Mary Ricci, and Meme Bruen.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:30am until 12:30pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.    A graveside service will follow at 1pm at Taylor Cemetery in New Market with Rev. Josh Duncan officiating.
