John E. NortonMay 12, 1936 - Dec 30, 2009Sergeant First Class John Earnest Norton, 73, of Huntsville, AL died Wednesday at a local hospital. He retired from the Army in 1974. He was a member of Flint River Baptist Church. He loved working with children and he served many years driving the bus for mission trips and the church ministry. He also drove a bus at Buckhorn High School for several years.He is survived by his wife Mary "Francis" Crain Norton, 3 sons: John Jr. (Jake) & wife Rhonda, Jimmy, and James & wife Jennifer; one daughter Kay & husband Scott Gedling. 14 grandchildren: Lisa, Johnny, Jason, Melissa, Amber, Madison, Jonathan, Tanner, Alex, Beth, Clayton, John David, Emily, and Franklin Tony. 6 Great-grandchildren: Michael, Summer, Kayne, Ethan, Evan, and Jackson. Three sisters & two brothers who live in Mississippi.Visitation will be at Hazel Green Funeral Home from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday with services following at 2 p.m and with Rev. Tommy Marsh officiating. He will be laid to rest immediately following at Flint River Baptist Church Cemetery in Meridianville, AL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Flint River Baptist Church building fund.
