Lt. Colonel (retired) John Robert Scott Jr, 92, of Huntsville, passed away on Saturday.  He was retired from the United States Army where he served as a military police officer.  Lt. Colonel Scott was a recipient of the Bronze Star.  Mr. Scott was also a Mason and was raised in the German American Lodge in Pirmasens, Germany.  He later transferred to Helion Lodge #1 in Huntsville, Alabama.

He was a graduate of San Jose State University and a member of Sigma Pi fraternity.  He later earned his master's degree at Kent State University where he also taught ROTC.

He served at the Port of Embarkation during the Korean Conflict. In Vietnam, he served with Field Force 1 on the staff of General W.R. Peers. He commanded a military police brigade in Wurzburg, Germany.

Surviving family members include his wife of 70 years, Evelyn H. Scott.  His son, John Charles (Joy) Scott and his daughter, Sherry (Jerry)  Hyatt.

There will be a graveside service with full military honors on Wednesday at 1pm at Maple Hill Cemetery.
