Johnny Harris

John Dillard Harris Jr. of Meridianville passed away recently at his residence. He was 74.

Johnny grew up in the Walnut Grove community, attended Walnut Grove School, and was a graduate of the Hazel Green High School class of 1969.  During his high school years, he loved playing football for the the Trojans.   He had retired from NASA where he worked for a contractor.  In his younger years, he loved riding horses and being outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Dillard "J.D." Harris Sr and Ozell Fenn Harris and by his niece, Haley Harris.

Surviving family members include his daughter, Dusten Savannah "Dusti" Harris;  His brother and sister-in-law, Jeff & Cheryl Harris; His sister and brother-in-law, Julie & Jeff Nay;  His niece,  Sadie Harris;  His nephews: Scott Harris, Tyler Nay (Molly), Thomas Nay, Trenton Nay; His great-niece, Avery Head;  His great-nephew, Jacob Nay.  He is also survived by his constant canine companion, Bobo.

The family will receive friends on Sunday beginning at 1pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3pm also at the funeral home.
