Mr. Johnny Dean Hopkins, 56, of Toney, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday.
Johnny worked for 18 years at J&J Corrugated Box factory, for ten years with the Madison County Water Department, and then for the last year with the Madison County School System at Sparkman Ninth Grade Academy. He was a member of the Bobo Volunteer Fire Department and was a dedicated Christian and a part of the Cowboy Church of Limestone County. Johnny loved people and will be remembered for his smile and sense of humor, his love for horses, for riding his motorcycle, and love for kids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon & Helen Hopkins, and by his grandparents, John Ed & Lina Hudson, and Edward Hopkins.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 30+ years, Rita Hopkins; His brothers, Ricky (Becky) Hopkins, Terrell Hopkins, and his twin brother, Ronnie Hopkins; His sisters, Sheryl (Lee) Woodard and Lisa (Perry) Abernathy; Several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many loving friends. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Gail McGehee, Debbie (Jerry) Zumbro, and Tonya White.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday at 1pm at the funeral home with Rev. Rodney Sanders and Rev. Steve Olney officiating. Burial will follow in Golightly Cemetery.
