Katie Ruth Tate Brown, 85, of Meridianville passed away peacefully on April 10, 2018.  She will be remembered by calling people on their birthdays and singing to them.  She will also be remembered as “Kissing Katie”, as she loved to greet people with a kiss.  She retired from Martin Technologies, Inc.  She had the exceptional gift of loving everyone and making them feel special.  Her faith in the Lord was enduring.  She was the former wife of Dr. Elmon Brown, Jr. who served at Cash Point Baptist Church, Mountain View Baptist Church, and Southside Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carrie and Will Tate; brother, Carl Tate (Evelyn); sisters Mildred Phillips (Dewey), Mary Elizabeth Tate, and Vera Maxine Tate.  Niece Katie Jane Lankford.

She is survived by son Pat Brown and wife Cristall; daughter Beth Brown Laster and husband Jeff;  Her Grandchildren Clay Brown, Caitlin (Logan) Hoffman, Ashlen (Joseph) Garcia, and Macy Laster; Great Grandson Kane Garcia; Brother Homer Tate (Jeanette); a host of nephews and nieces, cousins, and many loving friends.

Visitation will be at Flint River Baptist Church on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm.  The Celebration of her life will be at Flint River Baptist Church on April 13, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Dr. Steve Bell and Dr. Tommy Bolan officiating.  Burial will follow at Flint River Cemetery.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Hazel Green Funeral Home.
