Larry Birdsong

Thomas Larry Birdsong, 81, of Laceys Spring, Alabama, passed away December 17, 2022  at Signature Healthcare of Whitesburg Gardens  Huntsville , Alabama . He was born on July 8, 1941  in Madison County, Alabama  to Horace  and Sally P. Bunn Birdsong.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by one son, Harold Scott Birdsong, one brother, Bobby Birdsong, three sisters, Magaline Collins, Joyce Birdsong and Gladys Cox.

He is survived by his daughter, Leigh Ann Counts, son in law, James Counts, one son, Brandon Birdsong, daughter in law, Amanda Birdsong, daughter in law, Debbie Birdsong and best friend, Ricky Winsett. Larry had six grandchildren, Brandis Pugh, Tommy Counts, Mason Birdsong, Major Birdsong, David Birdsong and Lauren Brooks.

He had seven great grandchildren, Christian Woods, Dylan Higinbotham, Caleb Higinbotham, Ryder Birdsong, Henley Birdsong, Caden Brook and Jace Brooks.  He is also survived by his sister, Helen Hopper of Muncie, Indiana.

Larry was a Firefighter for the City of Huntsville while doing construction work on the side. He ended his working years as a Supervisor for the City of Huntsville Parks Department when he retired in 1989. Larry had a love for life, family and Auburn football that can only be explained as immeasurable. He will be greatly remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him.
