Larry Clayton Pitts, 77, of Meridianville, passed away on Saturday.  He was a Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hazel Green.  Larry was a great husband to his wife and father to his children, especially to his special needs son, Todd.

Larry was born and raised in Gadsden, Alabama.  He served for four years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war and then in the Alabama National Guard for eight years.   He worked at the Goodyear plant in Gadsden for two years before being employed with Dunlop Tire for twenty-eight years.  He was known as "Goodyear" by his coworkers at Dunlop.

Larry was a gifted artist who could paint or sketch anything.  He was well-known for his University of Alabama athletic memorabilia prints but he also painted other things such as his hometown, Vietnam, and more.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Jewel Pitts and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leon & Nell Howard.

Surviving family members include his wife of more than fifty years, Kay Howard Pitts;  His children:  April (Chris) Rader,  Clayton (Kimberly) Pitts, and Todd Pitts;  His grandchildren:  Chase Rader, Savannah Pitts, and Brody Pitts.  His brother, Jimmy Pitts;  His sisters, Sara Kidd, Maria Kilgore, and Barbara Swindall.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11am until 1pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 1pm at the funeral home.   Burial will be in New Grove Cemetery in Blanche, Tennessee.
