Carey Lawrence Miles of Arab, formerly of Hazel Green, passed away on Saturday while at home surrounded by loved ones.   He was 57.

Lawrence grew up enjoying playing baseball and basketball in school, and also played the trumpet in the school band.   He spent most of his working career as a long-haul truck driver.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and tinkering with anything with a motor.   He loved riding his motorcycle, drag racing, quarter midget racing, and was gifted at training quarter horses and dogs.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harvey H. & Marie Hudson Miles and J.W. & Kyle Kimbrough.

He leaves behind his parents, Carey Newton & Betty MIles;  his sisters:  Alicia (Brad) Ford and Amanda (Brandon) Abernathy; his nieces and nephews: Kurtis (Madison) Miller, Kaytlin Ford, Karah (JP) Graves,  Kalob Ford, Braxton Abernathy, and Brookelynn Abernathy; his great-nephews: Everett Hinson and Grafton Miller, and his special dog, Nova.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Wednesday at 11:30am at Hazel Green Funeral Home with Pastor Benny Berry and Pastor Ray Gardner officiating.  The family will receive friends an hour before the service.   Burial will follow the service and will be in Taylor Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeff "Cheese" Narrell, Joe "Little Joe" Prince, Ken Artis, Kevin Artis, Chris Simmons, and Kurtis Miller;  Honorary pallbearer, Mike "Cookie" Cook.

The family would like to express their appreciation for Lawrence's special friend, Leah Hipp and his hospice nurse, Tabatha Nichols who helped to provide wonderful care and loving support.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Affinity Hospice;  540 Hughes Road; Suite 12;  Madison, Alabama 35758.

Lawrence will be remembered for his love for his family, especially adoring his nieces and nephews, for his kind heart, and for enjoying and living life to its fullest.
