Mr. Leabert T. Carter, 80, of Hazel Green, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, after a long battle with Parkinson's and heart disease. He was a Christian and a member of Murphy HIll Baptist Church.
He was a 1960 graduate of Butler High School. In 1965, Mr. Carter married the love of his life, Gail Adkins. He always said that his marriage was his finest accomplishment in life. For 20 years, he owened and operated Rocket City Auto Parts in Huntsville. He then worked at Madison Square Chrysler before his retirement.
Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his parents, Theo & Florena Carter; His sister, Dorcas Johnson; His brother-in-law, Morrell Johnson; His nephew, Roger Johnson; His brother-in-law, Douglas Adkins.
Surviving family members include his wife of 56 years, Gail Adkins Carter; His brothers-in-law, Ken Adkins, David (Reba) Adkins; His sister-in-law, Diane Adkins; His nephews: Shane (Lisa) Adkins and Dan Adkins; His great-nephew, Jim Adkins; His niece, Phyllis Johnson Tilly, and a host of other family members and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:30pm at the funeral home with Pastor Mike McFarlen officiating. Burial will be in Charity Cemetery.
