Lester HarrisDecember 1, 1927 ~ January 15, 2011Mr. Lester Harris, 83, of Meridianville died Saturday at his residence. He was born on December 1, 1927 in Clarenden, Arkansas. Mr. Harris served five years in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the U.S. Army Missile Command, Hellfire/Gld Project Office, Product Assurance, Test and Configuration Management Division at Redstone Arsenal. He was grade 13, step 10. He loved fishing and wood working and loved being at home with his family and friends. Mr. Harris is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Jessie Pearl Moore Harris; four sons, Michael Harris and wife Jennifer of Auburn, Alabama, Kim Harris of Huntsville, Alabama, James Parkerson and wife Nancy of Petersburg, Tennessee, Donald Parkerson and wife Patti of Lewisburg, Tennessee; two daughters, Patricia McElyea of New Market, Alabama and Linda Judge of Hazel Green, Alabama; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents, McKinley and Alice Phifier Harris; an infant daughter and a sister, Ellen Roth. Visitation is Wednesday 5 to 8 pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. The funeral service is Thursday 2 pm at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
