Linda Lou died Sunday at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Feb. 12, 1940, in Hazel Green to Elvie and Bertha Spray Hunter. She graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1958. She was formerly employed by First National Bank and by Huntsville Utilities. It was at Huntsville Utilities that she met her future husband, James L. “Buddy” “Sib” Sibley, to whom she was married for 53 years before his death in 2016. She was an accomplished seamstress and an excellent cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six brothers, Cecil, Homer, Billy, Albert, Willard, and Collins “Tooter” Hunter; and two sisters, Evelyn “Josie” Layne and Pauline Campbell.
She is survived by two daughters, Cyndi Sibley and Carolyn Wells (Bill) of Hazel Green, her sister, Gwen Potter of Hazel Green, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Pallbearers will be Kay Kay McBride, Cheryl Erdner, Michelle Rogers, Anthony Potter, Dickey Potter and Maria Shelby.
A graveside service for Linda Lou Hunter Sibley, 80, of Hazel Green, will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at State Line Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Lones officiating and Hazel Green Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
