On Monday December 21, 2020 Lonnie Dee Satterfield went home to be with his Lord and Savior.

Lonnie was born on November 15, 1944 to Charles Clifford and Josie Lee Satterfield of New Market, AL. Lonnie married Mrs. Carolyn Arnold-Satterfield on May 27, 1966 and raised two beautiful daughters in New Market, AL. Lonnie worked as a drywall installer and was Co-Owner of OXR Drywall and Acoustic. He also served his country in the United States National Guard for 27 years before retiring.

Lonnie was an avid athlete in his younger years. Softball and basketball were two of his favorite sports to play. Some of his most cherished moments come from coaching softball to his wife, daughters, and beloved friends and traveling across the southeast to countless tournaments. Lonnie was very family oriented and always put his family first. He was known as “Papa” to his family and spent as much time with them as he could. Papa was always at every sporting event his grandchildren were apart of and was their biggest fan. He was also a big time Alabama football fan and enjoyed spending every Saturday watching ball games at home with his family. Lonnie was the kindest and hardest working man and had a smile that could light up any room he walked in and a sense of humor that would have you laughing for days.

Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents Charles Clifford and Josie Lee Satterfield, his brothers Charles, Wilson, Laudry, and Wilburn Wayne “Putt” Satterfield, and his daughter Tara Satterfield Franklin.

Lonnie is survived by his wife of 54 years Carolyn Arnold-Satterfield, his daughter Tammy Satterfield-Bryant and sons in law David Bryant and Scott Franklin, his grandchildren Chelsi (Justin) Bryant-Wilson, Breanna Bryant, Garrett Bryant, Brylee Franklin, and Trinity Hendrick, and one great-grand baby on the way. His dear brother Ronnie Lee Satterfield and sister Joyce Satterfield-Crim.

He was loved by everyone he met and will be deeply missed by all.

There will be a graveside funeral service on Saturday at 1pm at Concord Cemetery.  Hazel Green Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
