Mabel Byrd

Mabel Irene Tucker Byrd, 92, of Toney, Alabama passed away on January 3rd, 2019.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marshall L. Byrd, Jr. and her dear son Rickey D. Byrd.  Those left to cherish her memory are her devoted son Kenny L. Byrd and her beloved grandchildren Christine E. Byrd-Harris, Julie B. Poe, Lori N. Brown, Jesse R. Byrd, and Joshua L. Byrd as well as 13 treasured great-grandchildren.  Mabel lived a full, commendable, life devoted to her family and friends. She graduated from Hazel Green High School. She was a Military Wife and while she found it challenging at times, she loved the fact that it allowed her to travel the world and meet new and exciting people. She was active in the community by participating in Madison County Homemakers. Mabel had genuine warmth towards all the people that she met and had the rare ability to make people feel loved and important. She never met a stranger, and everyone was welcome to her home with a warm smile, treats, and amazing stories waiting to be told. Her story continues onward through her family.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 7th at 10 am with the funeral to follow at 11 am both to be held at Hazel Green Funeral Home.

As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
