Mark Bates, 57, of Ardmore, Alabama, passed away on Monday in Texarkana, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Bates of Ardmore; Six children: Mark Jr and wife, Carol, Joshua Bates, Jason Bates, all of Ardmore; Johnny Mitchell and wife, Beth of Manchester, Tn; Timothy Bryant and wife, Beth of Elkton, Tn; April Dawn Bryant of West Palm Beach, Fl; Five brothers: Jim, Chuck, Tony, John, and Wayne. Grandchildren: Madison Huff and husband, Cable, McKenzie Faulk and husband, John, Miranda Bates and husband, Christopher, Timothy and Ethan Bates, Michael, Brady, and Eliza "JoJo" Bryant; Many nieces and nephews.
He was much loved by the "A-B-C-D Kids" and was known to many as "Pop Pop." He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edith Bates. His brother, Tom and his sister, Elizabeth.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 1 to 4pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4pm.
