Mary Jean Barisa, 77, of Hazel Green, went to be with the Lord on Thursday evening while resting at her home.  She was born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania where she completed high school and then attended business school.  In 1963, she moved to Huntsville, Alabama with her husband Bart and their then two children, Kathleen and John.  There, she had two additional children, James and Mark.  While living in Huntsville, she had been a member of St. Mary's Church of the Visitation.

She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Hazel Green where she was involved in AWANA, and Vacation Bible School.  Mary Jean was also involved in the Emmaus Community, Relay For Life, and had served with her church on a foreign mission trip. She recently retired from Titertek Industries in January after being employed for over 30 years. When her children were younger, she was a dedicated, stay-at-home mom and was very involved in her children's activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew R. and Jean Armstrong LaHorner.

She is survived by her children: Kathleen Dodge, John Barisa, James Barisa and his wife, Dawn, and Mark Barisa and his wife, Mary;  her grandchildren: Eric Dodge, Meghan Norton, Kaleb Barisa, Kaitlyn Barisa, Jacob Barisa, Brian Barisa, Zachary Barisa;  her brother, Andrew "Drew" LaHorner and his wife, Barbara.

The family will receive friends on Sunday beginning at 1pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:30pm with Pastor Lon Ostrzycki officiating.  Burial will be in Charity Cemetery.
