Matt Wilbanks

Matt Wilbanks of Athens, Alabama passed away on Sunday morning. He was 35.

He was a loving father and husband and did his best to provide for his family. He loved guns, enjoyed joking, and had a great sense of humor. Matt never met a stranger, loved talking to everyone and would do anything to help those in need.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Evelyn Norman and his grandfather, Ed Norman, his grandmother Catherine Reed and his grandfather, Cletus Smith.

Surviving family members include his wife, Jennifer Wilbanks; his daughters: Melanie Cruz, Evelyn Wilbanks, and Joann Wilbanks; his siblings: Francesca Wilbanks, Jeffrey Smith, Lelanda Smith, Todd Wilbanks, and Heaven Wilbanks. his dad, Jeffrey Wilbanks; his mom, Teresa Ortiz. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 4pm until 7pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. They request no flowers and ask that everyone dress casually.
